about

So one day I went out to stand, enveloped in the radiance of the sun, and my gaze fell upon a familiar sight. I have this bird bath, with a cement turtle sculpture in it. It's partially for decoration, but also proves to be good perching point for my neighboring birds to rest on while they drink. I then had a vision of this cement turtle coming to life, and the endeavors it would have to face in order to walk all the way to the nearest suitable habitat: the Guadalupe River. This piece fell into my lap that day as I sat in the sun with my trusty acoustic guitar in my hands. I wanted to make the recording as similar as I could to the images that flooded my head, and in order to do that I needed to build a structure for you as the listener to catch on to. I have always been inspired by the story of Atreyu from The NeverEnding Story so I decided to use dialogue from the movie to help further emphasize the theme. Do any of us know where the power to heal the Empress lies? What caused the Empress to become sick? Who is the Empress? Why should we even dwell upon such things? If you needed a new name, what kind of quest would you go on in order to find such a thing?
I don't know how to properly cite a source for sound samples, because they don't teach you that kind of stuff in college.
Samples come from: The NeverEnding Story 1984 Motion Picture Directed by Wolfgang Paterson
Thank you for the many times your film has allowed me to be engulfed with the surrealism of Fantasia, please don't sue me. I make no money from my art.

lyrics

Turtle in the bird bath, don't you know that's not where you belong?
Put you in the tall grass. Hope I can trust you to find your way home.
